Trauma effects everyone differently. These are events that can be shocking, dangerous or frightening to an individual. Everyone handles their emotions differently some can recover quickly others may not recover for a lengthy period of time.
People can become so distressed that they could be diagnosed with anxiety or post dramatic stress disorder.
A few of events that can cause trauma to individuals are as follows:
- Assault physical or sexual
- Domestic abuse physical or mental
- Being part of a war from being in the military
- Being diagnosed with a life threatening illness or injury
- Being around someone very ill physically or mentally
- Emotions due to or stimulated by a death
There are many tools to help individuals with emotional distress;
Family Counseling, Art Therapy, Music, Yoga, 12 step programs etc. these are all successful. We use Equine Assisted Learning at Living Life Ranch because this is what has worked for our team personally. Our program has shown to be successful with all the lives that have booked sessions with us. Each of us suffered from different traumatic exposures. At different times in our lives all with different experiences. If the healing wasn’t real we would not be offering it to anyone.
Horses work with individuals by connection. This attunement allows individuals to receive feedback by responding and reflecting emotions. Horses don’t judge they listen they don’t care about what you look like, what you’ve done in your past.
Living Life Ranch utilizes horses to help you find a safe place to be at peace, to listen, to talk without judgment to provide you with a horse experience and offer you unconditional love.
